Fair Usage Policy
How to use the Matchbook Betting Platform API
Matchbook (“we”, “us”) aims to manage its service to optimise the experience for all API customers. We want to empower our customers to trade and bet on the exchange as frequently and as often as they wish. We also seek to ensure that usage of the API stays within reasonable boundaries in the mutual interest of all parties. With this in mind, we have prepared a Fair Usage Policy which, in conjunction with our standard Terms and Conditions, govern how the API should be used.
“Matchbook” means Triplebet Limited, a private limited company duly incorporated with registration number 1827 and registered office situated at Inchalla, Le Val, Alderney, GY9 3UL;
1. Updates
1.1 This Fair Usage Policy may be amended from time to time. Therefore, we recommend that you check the Fair Usage Policy on a regular basis.
1.2 By continuing to access or use the Matchbook Betting Platform API (“API”), you will be deemed to have accepted any changes to the Fair Usage Policy.
2. Exceptions
2.1 We encourage experimental and innovative use of the API and if you feel that your intended use is constrained or prohibited by the Fair Usage Policy, please talk to us about whether we should make a change or give you an exception by emailing us at [email protected]. Please note that any requested changes or exceptions are subject to Matchbook's prior written approval and we reserve the right to reject your request.
3. Access
3.1 All use of the API and data, documentation, and related materials made available to
you on or through Matchbook.com by whatever means is subject to and must comply with this policy.
3.2 By connecting to the API and using the Matchbook content, information and data available at www.matchbook.com ("Matchbook Content"), you agree to be bound by certain limitations on access, calls, and utilisation of the API as set forth below or as otherwise notified to you by Matchbook.
3.3 If we reasonably believe that you have attempted to exceed or circumvent the rate limits described in Section 4 to the detriment of other API customers, your ability to use the API and the Matchbook Content may be temporarily or permanently limited by any mechanism that we see fit, including throttling, or any other means of limiting connectivity or data rates.
3.4 Matchbook may monitor your use of the API to improve our overall service to all customers and to ensure your compliance with this Fair Usage Policy.
3.5 You will not attempt or encourage others to:
a. use or access the API for any purpose save for the express purpose included in any
license agreement you have with Matchbook; or
b. attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or disable any API features; or
c. sell, rent, lease, sublicense, redistribute, or syndicate the API or Matchbook
Content to any third party without Matchbook's prior written consent; or
d. use or access the API for purposes of monitoring the availability, performance, or
functionality of any of Matchbooks’ products and services or for any other
benchmarking or competitive purposes; or
e. knowingly or negligently transmit electronic material (including, without
limitation, data that contain viruses, corrupted files, or any other similar software or
programmes) which is known or likely to cause, interrupt, damage, destroy or limit the
functionality of any computer software, hardware or telecommunications equipment.
4. Limitations
4.1 You agree only to use the API as detailed in any documentation provided to you by us,
including the API Reference documentation available at https://developers.matchbook.com.
4.2 The usage limits across our API are organised into groups of requests. These are:

Events | 700 requests per minute |
Security | 200 requests per minute |
Navigation | 100 requests per minute |
Reports | 40 requests per minute |
Betting Write | 3,000 requests per minute |
4.3 The limitations set out in paragraph 4.1 ("Limitations") apply per customer account (user id/unique IP). You agree not to use any means to circumvent these limitations set out in this Fair Usage Policy.
5. Excessive Usage
5.1 We reserve the right to rate limit your rate of requests using a blocking period immediately after the Limitations have been exceeded. The default blocking period is 10 minutes. Therefore, you may experience a service degradation if you fail to comply with the Fair Usage Policy.
5.2 If we observe persistent or material breaches of the limitations set out in this Fair Usage Policy, then we reserve the right to terminate and/or suspend (with or without notice) your access to the API.
5.3 Matchbook shall not be liable for any loss, damages and claims that you may suffer or incur as a result of blocking access to the API and/or suspending and/or terminating your access to the API.
5.4 Rather than rate limit, block and/or terminate API customers, we would much rather work with you to understand and support your requirements, so please do get in touch with us at [email protected] if you think you may require higher limits.
